Love Your Pet Day

Pet parents, put a pawprint on your calendar: February 20th is Love Your Pet Day! Of course, we think that our animal friends deserve to feel loved and pampered every day. But why not show your little (or not so little) buddy some extra TLC? Here, a local Kalamazoo, MI vet discusses Love Your Pet Day.

Toys aren’t just fun for our four-legged friends. They are actually crucial to pets’ health and happiness. Get Fluffy a new catnip mouse, or pick up a rope toy for Fido. Smaller pets may enjoy chew toys, or perhaps a maze or tunnel.

If there’s one thing our furry friends all enjoy, it’s treats. Fluffy can have a can of tuna, or some special kitty treats. Fido will eat, well, pretty much anything, but try to stick with healthier snacks, such as cooked, plain meat, chicken, or fish, without the bones, skin, or fat. Smaller pets all have their own unique nutritional needs, so ask your vet for recommendations.

Take a few minutes to play with your pet. This will give your furry buddy some exercise, and also brighten up their day. Plus, it will be fun for you, too!

Pets are wonderful companions, who are there for us through thick and thin. Our animal companions don’t ask for much, aside from love, ear scritches, and belly rubs. Spend time with your pet every day.

Critter Comforts

Don’t be afraid to pamper your furry pal! Soft beds, doghouses, and fun excursions will help keep Fido’s tail wagging. Fluffy will enjoy having kitty furniture, beds, toys, and a good window view. Smaller pets need clean, comfortable cages, and, of course, cozy hidey-holes. This is a great time to get your pet some new things!

Beauty Session

While all pets have their own specific grooming needs, most do need a helping hand, at least on occasion. Take time to brush or bathe your four-legged pal. This is a great way to spend quality time with your pet, and make them feel loved and pampered!

Veterinary Care

Proper veterinary care is an important part of any good pet care regimen. Make sure to bring your furry companion to the vet’s regularly!
